Guess it depends what mood I'm in for VU. I'm completely entranced by the end of Sister Ray.

As for E-Musik, though it isn't my favourite, it is a highly influential track. Take "Djed" for ex from Tortoise's "Millions Now Living...", those minimal variations in clicking in the center piece owe much to E-Musik.

VU's third has been my favourite for a while now. Though I love tracks like Venus in Furs, Sunday Morning and Heroin from their debut and the amazing Sister Ray from WL/WH, I just love the overall warm sound of their self-titled release. It's often considered less daring than their previous albums, but Murder Mystery is an obvious masterpiece of avant garde rock, and some of the other tracks are extremely powerful (I'm Set Free is beautiful).

Yes! This is a really nice chart! And since it's always changing, it's always interesting.

Seems like as good a place as any to say that Halcyon Digest (#36 here) finally clicked for me this week. Just had to be in the right mood to want to hear reverb-heavy indie. Not sure if it'll ever appear in my list, but I'm pro-including it here!

Halcyon Digest didn't click right away either. It felt too derivative, a pale study of past influences.
With repeated listens however, it struck me as an emotionally honest album compared to some of the bland shit out there. It flows actually really well, and though there's a nostalgic feel to it, it also has a darker undertone.
It fits in well in my top 50.

For now 😁
