Just as a comment: mm is nowhere on Belgian and I suppose even European radio, not with their albums and certainly not with singles: I discovered them via this site.
Just to say that singles are maybe even more of a regional thing than albums.

Thanks for clarifying the point of view. And I agree with that too.

I just really do think a deeper cut like Blame it on the Tetons or this track are just as good as those tracks you listed, but can also totally agree I'd pick those songs you listed as singles over the ones I mentioned.

Maybe to make things clearer with expectations we say singles instead of songs...? idk... really doesn't matter in the end, but that might an interested limiter. Track needs to be released as a single to qualify.

EDIT: didn't know this, but The Moon & Antarctica didn't drop any singles... 🤡 totally would have expected something like 3rd planet or gravity rides everything to be one.

Gravity was used in a commercial, which is kind of like a single, no?

yeah... this MM track just doesn't do it for me. i'm a bit disappointed in myself for not nominating a modest mouse track with a bit more pzazz.

Might have been more of a contest for me if world at large was the modest mouse pick. Going with the one song off kid a that makes me forgive that album for being so overrated

I must have missed the rule that we need to pick the most iconic songs. Just because Float On is their most popular track of the decade, I don't think it's the song I "should" have picked. And "strongest song" is subjective.
Tbh if I did it again and had to pick another MM song, I would pick Gravity Rides Everything or The Stars are Projectors.

EDIT: Modest Mouse cuz I like Weird Fishes/Arpeggi more which is still in the tournament as far as I know and this is a really close matchup... very few other songs would win over Idiohead.
