They weren't the first to play hard rock or proto-metal (if you count them as proto-metal at all) either, though those styles didn't start as early as blues rock. The Stones play blues rock on their first album in 1964.

Also, for my money the best Zeppelin stuff (well, my favorite anyway) isn't the prominently blues rock material anyway. Although songs like Kashmir, The Ocean, Over The Hills.., Achilles Last Stand and so on have structural roots in the blues, they weave an entirely different web of music outside of it, perhaps that's a result of them hearing and reaching out to different.. musical.. influences?

They are just the 10s-00s version of The Darkness, a forgettable reductive throwback band with no originality or frankly good music to put to the page. It's not that they sound like Led Zeppelin, it's that they suck.

John Mayhall and the Bluesbreakers is pretty much the band that coined the term, too.

Led Zeppelin is Blues Rock and it is a genre that they basically invented. Other bands have similar sounds and no one really give them as much shit as they do to Greta Van Fleet. Yes the lead Singer's vocals are similiar to Robert Plant, to me, that is cool. In a way, Led Zeppelin has been resurrected for another generation, and us old timers can relive some of that magic all over again.

People have their opinions but lately everyone's thoughts, opinions and points of views are so damn extreme (Politics, Pandemic....).

For me, music is my escape from reality. Let it be and enjoy the music.

I'm not really a GVA person, but I do remember checking out some of the Train cover album of Led Zeppelin II. The got pretty close to the original sound. I have no idea why people would hate it that much. How do you "ruin" the Zeppelin sound? If you ask me, if the reviews of Train's original music is that bad, than that cover album should be considered their best album instead of their worst.

People are always on their asses about sounding to much like Led Zeppelin.

You know what I say? "SO F'n WHAT!"

I like Led Zeppelin, so yes, I enjoy this music. They are a young talented band and I hope they keep sounding like Led Zeppelin for their long entire career.

Long Live GVF!

Oh and their Debut Album "Anthem Of The Peaceful Army" is awesome.
