Looks like someone broke the tie too late. This result was... Crushing... (sorry). After the two big upsets to lead off, I was expecting smoother sailing here for Hval, and The Practice Of Love led the entire week, only to fall to a late Hail Mary from an album that is certainly more conventional in its sound. But that's the way the BEA cookie crumbles - never bet against indie fare with good songwriting.

Crushing really holds up to repeat listens. It sounds good no matter what mood I'm in. I've only listened to the Hval album once. Pretty, but it didn't really leave a big impression on me.

I wasn't exactly expecting The Practice Of Love to dispatch two out of the top three seeds in the tournament in the first two rounds, but I'll take it! My vote for it here is much easier than my vote for it against Titanic Rising.

There's a trend of great female musicians whose names start with J. Jenny, Jessy, Julia, Juliana, Joanna, Joni, Jessica, Janis, Jamila, Janelle, Jlin... BUT when her surname starts with J too, you know the album is fantastic. That's why Julia Jacklin gets my vote.
