Fourth of July, for personal reasons. One of the greatest, ever. I really like Cate Le Bon, but so far her music hasn't fully clicked as it seems to be just the sum of it's (admittedly very lovely, varied and well-crafted) parts.

However Cate le Bon sounds interesting, my vote goes to Sufjan. I am a big Sufjan fan.

I really like 'Home to You', far more than most Sufjan or CSH songs. Really not sure where this idea that it's not a great song is coming from. There's some super harmonically interesting interplay between the husky, Nico-esque vocals, the slippery, almost queasy guitar, the playful chimes, and the soft, ever-so-slightly dissonant drone running beneath it all, making this a piece of gorgeous sonic worldbuilding that also doubles as an effortless slice of catchy, off-kilter pop music, like something that you might've found on Another Green World. I do agree with that. As I said in that round, I probably should've gone with Drunk Drivers or Costa Concordia, but whatever. I do wish a better song had beat BLiD at the very least.

Some people had a hard time voting for a re-recording out of principle, which I don't really understand. And there is a strong contingent of anti-CSH folks in all of these tournaments.

Agreed - Sufjan and it isn't close.

Technically the wrong end of the decade though. Anyway, Fourth of July is still the Sufjan song that represents the shift to his new style that I do not vibe with and is probably the worst cut on that album that's not Blue Bucket - so this is an easy vote for Cate for me.
