That U2 album is godawful.

The Kick Inside alts are all mediocre but I'm glad that the middle one was used as the primary/initial release artwork.

It seems like she's doing the cobra and the lion together! I much prefer the second one too.

I like the fun extrapolation of the title that is the second cover (if I understand the figurative sense well).

Oh jeez, I've only ever seen the first one. Sinead looks like she's hissing like the cobra in the title. Or she's been frightened by something off camera. 2nd one is loads better.

The well-known international cover is stylish of course, but I was just thinking that with such a great title, they could have come up with an image more in relation to the title.

I am very pleased that this is the cover I have. For me, infinitely better than the international version.

It's an unpopular opinion on here, but I prefer the American version in both respects. The cover is subatomic particle tracks in a bubble chamber, which is much cooler imo. When It Started > New York City Cops. Those are the only differences.

TBH they're both incredibly lackluster, but I prefer the 1978 since it's at least just a photograph instead of the 1992 reissue since that just oozes "we paid a graphic designer to produce this crap"

The original Is This It cover and album are just miles better imo. Better songs, more "controversial" cover which fits the garage rock image much better than whatever the hell that blue and gold cover is.

That's a really good comparison. I've been collecting those partially because they look so nice (though he's also probably my favorite author).

As far as reissues go, the Kraftwerk ones are phenomenal. Reminds me of the reprints of Vonnegut's novels.

In all honesty I'm not a fan of the original album artwork for Autobahn, Trans-Europa Express, or Die Mensch-Maschine either, but I feel like the new ones are a bit TOO minimal, so I don't know that they quite eclipse the originals. I always felt like Kraftwerk and Talking Heads could've just swapped styles for all their album artwork (or at least the early albums for each) and it would have worked perfectly.
