It's often more serious and progressive than the genre name might describe. Many types of bands are put into the category though. Some are better off elsewhere. I'm personally not much into the more Doom-like, or seemingly Sabbath influenced. Nothing against it at all, but I'm aiming to list, or talk about, the bands that are more ambient or Floyd-like. The space rock bands, and the bluesy and melodic. I'm also looking to be turned on to those I might be unfamiliar with. List favorite stoner-like bands and/or albums of the past decade. It's certainly a diversion for them, as it sounds more like Pat Metheny on a mind trip, as compared to what came before it, the more hard rock stoner Elder material.
