Yeah, i liked it a lot and I think it will grow further in me, still I think I exagerated with my expectations, I really thought it was going to blow my mind.

I always love looking at this at the end of the year ^ and they update it almost daily.

Out of the nominees we have in this poll definitely Bon Iver (actually maybe my choice anyway) but I think it'll be super gross if Let England Shake becomes the most critically acclaimed of the year.

The current lists out now are from Paste, Q, Uncut and supposedly Mojo? I haven't been able to find that list yet though.

And all of them are pretty mediocre. Paste being the best of the worst though, and it seems you don't like that one very much 🤣

Hip-Hop & R&B doesn't have to be mainstream. OFWGKTA is making a huge impact on indie hip-hop & R&B. The Cool Kids, Random Axe, DJ Quik, Elzhi, Frank Ocean & Freddie Gibbs makes great underground R&B and hip-hop. Shabazz Palaces is pretty pathetic, just lame music that critics like cause it's 'a bit different'. Phonte's album was pretty good, but nothing amazing. And I haven't heard anything about Celph-Titled in general...Might look them up.

This has been a fairly bad year for hip-hop, especially considering it was the follow-up year to MBDTF 🤣

(while I'm on this topic, I hate when people put R&B and hip-hop in the same category....it's like going to the music store that has the 'Pop/Rock' shelf all mixed up 🤡 )

I wasn't blown away by Radiohead TKOL at first, but it ended up being the album I listened to most this year.
Thats why it gets my vote. I found that it works best in a car with good sound, at highway speeds. Very underrated album, maybe not great, but really good.

That's actually a lot of good points. 🤔 But I don't really want to stuff up my current lineup 🙁 plus it's really hard to compare and contrast an album that was written like 40 years ago to contemporary stuff...

But it was edited in 2011, the material was never completed then, so it's not a 1967 album either. Oh, and the Sessions are better.

Smile is no more a record of the 00s than the Sessions are one of 2011.

But you've got a point : I think the debate is unessential. My opinion is that The Smile Sessions is the best record to have been released in the past 12 months. You are perfectly rightful to deny this to anyone saying so.
