i know very little about any of these sites i use this place and the related videos of what i listen to on youtube to find stuff.

Pitchfork are IMO the worst, most hypocritical review website of all time.

I can't stand how some bands they call unoriginal and then others which sound exactly the same as that band an original masterpiece.

It's also in a way the home of the term "hipsta music" which is so overused now, but probably wouldn't exist without Pitchfork.

I have an account, I haven't been there for a long time though. It's a good site actually, so I want to go back there now.

I wasn't born yet at the time that Nueva Cancion Chilena happened (mostly from mid-late 60s to mid 70s) but thanks to my parents I've heard a lot, a lot of it. Inti Illimani happen to be my favourite. Virtually all their versions of Victor Jara or Violeta Parra songs are better than the originals, IMHO. By the way, Victor Jara was musical director of Quilapayun in the 60s

I'd love to go to Chile. I always like a good travel, but I've never been out of America.

As for rating these websites, I can only rate RYM. It's good but they go way to specific with albums, and it gets on my nerves. Why don't they just keep it simple? Plus, they don't have the point system that I like.

I really like Allmusic.
I've been using it for around ten years now. That's the first place I'd go to find something new to listen to. It's a very user friendly, extensive and encyclopedic database about music - artists, albums and songs. There's currently over 2 million albums in their database, with over 300,000 of these having reviews. You can also find an album according to genre, with recommendations for outstanding albums/artists/songs in each genre. Plus, there are more than 80,000 biographies, and relational links between artists (e.g "influenced by"). For me, that is the perfect place to go music hunting.

I am a fairly new nueva cancion-fan, Inti-Illimani are the only artists I've listened to somewhat extensively, and I love them passionately. I think I'm the only one here who has them on my charts. Silvio Rodriguez is also a favourite, but he's cuban of course.

I would really like to see you make a chart, prog rock and nueva cancion sounds like an unbeatable combination. 😁
