Okay, hopefully before Duppy here concludes that we're all totally dysfunctional, I'm going to make three recommendations, all fairly recent releases:

Spectrophobia by Camp Counselors
This one is basically a dreampop album, with lots of reverb, some ambient passages strewn about, and what I consider to be strong Radiohead influences.

Below The Waste by Goat Girl
There's an Art of Noise album with the same title, but that could be a coincidence. I'm not sure how to classify this one, to be honest - it's basically a pop record, but kind of all over the place subgenre-wise.

Velvet Dawn by Ruin Of Romantics
Of these three, I suspect you're probably least likely to take a shine to this one, assuming you take a shine to any of them. It's basically "gothgaze," also with lots of reverb and whispery male vocals... There's a pervasive sense of dread running through, it but it's not in-your-face with the thematic stuff like a lot of goth and goth-adjacent albums tend to be.

I might also take a wild guess here and suggest a couple of "neo-lounge" ambient pop artists that you might like (though you might also hate them): Cigarettes After Sex and Bubble Tea And Cigarettes. I was hoping they would do a collaboration album called "Bubble Tea and Cigarettes After Sex" but of course that would be too logical.

Correction: I did post it, but only on the bad album cover thread, because that's where it belongs. It's beyond just "bad" it's sick and disturbing. I certainly would never post it anywhere else here, except on the bad album cover thread.

This is an open forum. Images are not censored (unless they break the site rules). The rest of the site is different because the content solely comes from BEA's database.

It might not be censored, but he still didn't have to post it. It's definitely a sick and disturbing image. Just because there isn't a rule against it, doesn't mean it's appropriate. There such a thing as having consideration for others, whether there's a rule against it or not. You don't see me posting, bloody, gory images like that.

as for genres I'm not huge on, I'm not the hugest fan of country (I just don't relate to wanting to drive a big tractor ig) but that is the only real genre that I'm less likely to give a fair chance TBH. my philosophy is if it sounds good i listen.

sorry if this is unhelpful, but i really am a weird freak when it comes to music taste.

I could be really wide of the mark with this recommendation but you might enjoy

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine

Heavy(ish), big on interesting lyrics. IMO a classic of the early 90’s. Took some time to grow on me. Needs to go higher in my charts TBH.

It would be helpful if you created an overall chart so that we can get a better handle on the albums that you love. Hope you enjoy RATM

I hadn't recommended any albums until my last post. I only named a few artists that I liked and posted a video of a song for each one. He or she also said they were interested in expanding and listening to new sounds, not the same sounds he or she has already been listening to. That would be like if I were to say I wanted to expand my listening and people recommended me Lauren Talley or something else that I already listen to.

You have also made it quite clear that you do not like most of the music he has said he enjoys (no surprise). Maybe take that as okay, I tried. There's no need to keep pushing Christian music onto people while refusing to listen to what others like based simply on...a symbol? If anyone here could use some expanding, it's you.

Duppy has posted in this thread a list of things he/she likes, so maybe it would be better if we started with that list instead of just pushing what WE like. And dismissing their choices based on...symbols.

There's really no good reason to go from here straight to Lauren Talley. This would be like me taking your love of Christian music and suggesting that you might like

To clarify, I have listened to a fair share of country (my parents were country buffs growing up) and I just don't relate to country culture as a whole, but I really like treaty oak revival and they are country.

I just had a look at Treaty Oak Revival on Apple Music. All of their releases have an explicit symbol on them, so I will not be checking them out after all. What kind of recommendations do you want?
