As others have said, over the top in so many ways.

I'm less keen on it today but it's still a great example of theatrical endeavour. I'll always have a soft spot for it, especially for Paradise...... https://www.besteveralbums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=744769#744769 Johnnyo Sat, 22 Nov 2025 04:27:02 GMT https://www.besteveralbums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=744769#744769 https://www.besteveralbums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=744734#744734 Author: BestEverAlbums

Posted: 11/21/2025 21:00

Today's album of the day

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf (View album | Buy this album)

Year: 1977.
Country:
Overall rank: 642
Decade rank: 147
Year rank: 19
Discography rank: 1 (out of 19 albums on BEA)
Average rating: 72/100 (from 683 votes).

Tracks:
1. Andrew Lloyd Webber meets Bruce Springsteen in this wonderfully bombastic and over the top album. It's incredibly theatrical, a kind of rock'n'roll musical all about love, sex and having a whale of a time. The title track is off course the most famous song here but, for crying out loud, paradise by the dashboard light, and, two out of three ain't bad, are all great. Bat out of hell, is pretentious, silly, and overly ambitious, but it's also a lot of fun. Good stuff."
- garycottier
________________________________________________________

"Overwrought, overblown, and totally over the top--and in this case, that's a good thing! Steinman's bombast and the Loaf's theatrical presentation bring out all the coming of age angst in a manner befitting the feelings of all who have gone through it. Perfect at what it is."
- Fischman
________________________________________________________

About album of the day: The BestEverAlbums.com album of the day is the album appearing most prominently in member charts in the previous 24 hours.
