I may have overstated how close this match-up is. I mean, I Care is great and I found it even more effective when listening to these songs back to back, but Ipod Touch is so ... touching - I know, I'll get my coat - it reaches another level for me.

In terms of mood/vibes, this might turn out to be my favourite match-up of the entire tournament - undoubtedly my favourite so far.

Like both, voting Ninajirachi by a hair. I initially disliked both artists (Turnstile a few years ago, Ninajirachi last year), but they're both growing on me with each listen. Both are solid as hell despite some of my personal gripes.

Fun fact, I didn't own my first iPod (a NANO, WHAT A DORK) until 2011, like a decade after they premeried and basically less two years before they became obsolete. They are that unique Millennial gadget, for sure.

Turnstile haven't quite clicked with me—

Ninajirachi whipped up something special with her album last year, and I think iPod Touch might be a bit of a sleeper on it— the lyrics hit very specifically to a certain age demographic, and it's just... heavier? than it should be, for something that sounds so simple— there's this layer of unexplainable ~nostalgia feels~ to it— pokes at something resembling reminiscing youth, but once again, to a very specific age range—

I don't know why I can't explain it. Should be able to—
Whatever 2008 brought upon us—
Retrofuturism.

It's an underlying flavour in a dish you can't pinpoint— and it reminds you of something equally happy and sad—

Being born in the 90s is a very specific thing—
