Bumpity Bump Bump

One more day for nominations! The way it's looking right now, it will be a 32 artist tournament.

Also, when doing a search for bracket charts, I stumbled upon one for double elimination tournaments, so I'll post the results of that variation on the original tournament as well, for entertainment value and to see if there would be any major changes.

Bran Van 3000 has a couple of knocks against them that make them overlooked... First, they are hard to categorize - are they dance? Indie-pop? Electronica? They don't fit into most radio slots, so bank on the odd campus radio or 'alternative' station to play them. Hence, most know Drinking in LA, and maybe Astounded. Second, they wait an eternity between albums, losing any momentum they might gain from the previous album. Glee was released in 1997, and Discosis in 2001. They released Roses quietly in 2006 after a lengthy hiatus, and The Garden in 2010. Each time they disappear in between, and slip out of the public consciousness. It doesn`t help that they release their albums with little or no fanfare, and always seem to break up. Third - they are virtually unknown outside of Canada (a little in Europe). In Montreal, they are an institution.

Regardless, they are a fantastic band. They are versatile, funky, messy, and more than anything, creative. They have so much more than Drinking in LA. Glee is a solid album, while Discosis is epic. Roses and The Garden slip a bit, but are still strong. If you appreciate their style (some may not) you`ll be glad to listen to Discosis first.

So deserving of a `best of`Canada list.

I think it's safe to say at this point that Arcade Fire will be nominated 😜 , so perhaps they want to have other artists in the tournament as well.

As for Bran Van, jack, yes, they have more than one song. I remember at least 3 of theirs being on the radio (Drinkin in L.A., Everywhere, Astounded), and wikipedia tells me they have 4 albums. 😁
