I used to prefer In Utero but I was listening to it the other day and I was just thinking "what the hell?". Take Rape Me, the riff sounds like Teen Spirit and there really isn't anything else to it, and some of the other tracks just don't seem that good, even after many repeated listens. But on the other hand Heart Shaped Box is just simply a phenominal track. And then Francis Farmer, Dumb and Tourette's are also awesome songs. Still I'd have to go with Nevermind just coz its an all round classic album and deserves all of its praise.

In Utero is my pick. It's actually the first Nirvana cd I bought. I bought it when I was 15 one day and had been thinking of buying a Nirvana cd for a long time. I had heard a couple of their songs but never bought any of their albums. For some reason I ended up buying In Utero instead of Nevermind. The first time I heard it it was strange because it sounded nothing like the previous Nirvana songs I had heard like Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are. But slowly it grew on me and I ended up loving it. After that I bought all the releases of Nirvana. It's funny thought Nevermind didn't have the impact I thought it would because I had heard In Utero first and it just seemed like the Nevermind songs weren't presented in pure form like the In Utero songs had been. In the end those two CDs will forever hold a special place in my heart along with Inscesticide and MTV Unplugged.

This is no no-brainer! I personally love the darker element to In Utero -- my pick for best Nirvana album. It is more diverse and Steve Albini's production is un-fucking-real!

Bleach may be my favorite.
I've listened to Nevermind more over the years, but I've been favoring In Utero over the past several months.

Bleach isn't bad, I just can't really "feel" it like I can Nevermind, if that makes sense. It almost feels like I have to try to enjoy it, I guess.

In Utero when it comes to what is true to the band and their sound. Plus my favorite song of theirs- all apologies is on it. Other than that it is able to do the more artistic parts of their sound - song endings and openings are more unique, etc.

I would have chosen Nevermind had the poll been which album is more important/influential.
