I thought they had died after releasing their first album?
Weren't the last 2 albums just memorial B-Sides taken off the shelf for sales? How embarrasing for them...

Seriously though, I liked Get Born.

The only "good" song they had was Are You Gonna Be My Girl. A good party starter but many others are forgettable. Some even sound like Oasis or Beatles songs.

I remember my dad was really pissed that there was a band named Jet because in his day every band wanted to name themselves Jet, but nobody did because everyone assumed it was taken. The knowledge that it was not, some thirty years later, greatly enraged him.

I liked pitchforks memorial for them. But eh, they were ok, I guess. Had some ok songs, but I think they'll be quickly forgotten

Their best song was an Iggy Pop rip-off. Not the most original band!
(Get Born is a good album - well 70/100 good!)

They were never a band I got into a whole lot, but some good tunes on that first album for sure. Hope their future projects work out for them.

Jet announced yesterday that they have broken up. After coming out with Get Born in 2003, they stumbled and faltered all the way to the finish line. Shine On was a terrible follow up, and their last album, 2009's Shaka Rock, went pretty much unnoticed through the world outside of Australia. In all, an 11 year career with only 3 albums to show for it, only one of them any good.

But there's always 2003....
