Unless you particularly like that kind of music. Any style you really enjoy, your ears will attune to the nuances that make it enjoyable to you, which effectively makes it no better than song in terms of fading into the background.

Try finding it...

Better to try to find a white noise album, or run a fan. That helps drown out background noise so you can concentrate, but also fades into the background so it doesn't distract you or annoy you.

However, there is the risk of it making you drowsy, which isn't any good.

Singing is distracting.
Some undramatic baroque music or mellow Jazz.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue always did the trick for me...but in general it has to be something with no vocals...

It was the 85-92 album, but I like Volume II as well. I also like a lot of Richie Hawtin's stuff, particularly Plastikman - Consumed. One of my favourite techno/ambient albums.

Classical music in the style of Largo (slow) seems to be the most effective music to study or concentrate by. I have two albums with a selection of Largo-based music on it. The best known pieces are by Händel, Vivaldi and J.S. Bach.

Yeah, I find calm instrumental music to be best. So post-rock like Explosions in the Sky's The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place is good. Also try Boards of Canada, their music sounds a bit like the music in those old science videos!
