My pick for the rugby semis:
Australia
Wales (the closest game surely, Wales are on an all-sports surge and isn't the game in Cardiff?)
New Zealand
Ireland (this game is a dirty trap though, considering Argentina's recent improvements)

I'm not sure, I reckon if anyone can upset New Zealand it'll be France (so I'm hoping...).

Going for much the same except I think South Africa can take Wales, I'm nervous about Ireland facing Argentina but I think we have just enough to edge them, the one I'm most confident about is Australia beating Scotland.

And yeah, Wales' first soccer tournament since the 1958 World Cup, hoping Ireland get a nice play-off draw too...

Watched the 2nd half of England vs. Wales, some nice rugby playing in there! Quite intense (cf. the number of injuries, frankly impressive), some great skills and bravado on the Welsh side. It's convinced me I probs should watch more of this World Cup.

Crazy crazy game, pity about what Scotland did to them though...

Genuinely believe Ireland are now capable of taking any team in the tournament, as expected Canada didn't provide much opposition and it'll probably be the same against Romania and Italy (should have enough to take France as well for top spot). Group A remains tough to call between England, Wales and Australia, while group B could be strange too after that shock Japan win (still fancy South Africa and Scotland to get through but Samoa could cause problems and Japan could give themselves a great shot if they can beat Samoa and United States). Group C should easily be New Zealand followed by Argentina, while as I said above, I expect D to be Ireland followed by France.

Exciting times ahead!

Don't even mind that we lost that was so amazing.. there is nothing between those three teams and I though each of them had it at certain points yesterday, and it went right down to the final play.. perfect end to the tournament.

I'd say each has a good chance at the wc, a very good team won't get out of the Eng Wal Aus group though 😕

Looks like it, not the strongest performance from Ireland ever today, but a win's a win and it's a reasonable start away from home, much better than losing there like 2 years ago, so I won't complain, especially as we only conceded once, I'm nervous about that England game though, going to be some battle.

France didn't seem overly convincing, especially as they were at home, they may change come next week but I reckon Ireland can take them.

Wales really didn't look like scoring again which has to be pretty worrying. England's set piece was pretty good but looks like it could be even more dangerous, especially with players coming back from injury. Burrell is just poor man's Tuilagi I don't rate him, can't wait for Joseph and Tuilagi to combine in the centres. And if we only replace Johnny May we actually have a decent backline.

That refereeing was terrible yesterday. Scrums were a mess you can't just let it play when the front row are on the floor, and some of the breakdown decisions in the first half were mental. The disallowed try was a joke there was definite movement towards Nick Easter it's not his fault if the defender buys a dummy line.. and it made no difference to the try being scored. The final penalty to lose it for Wales too, Twelvetrees was over the ball for about a second before he gives it when he hasn't given them all game.. maybe he was trying to make up for the disallowed try, harsh decision though
