But definitely ATTWT-and-on are "post-gabriel".

I consider ATTOT, W&W & ATTWT as the transitional genesis period. Trick and Wuthering still have enough prog-genesis to sound like the gabriel era. ATTWT though sounds like a completely-collaborative effort between the 3 remaining members, as opposed to the phil-dominated sound starting with Duke.

I agree that I seem to be the only one who puts the cut with the departure of Gabriel. Everyone I know puts it at the departure of Hackett. It's just that for whatever reason, Wind and Wuthering is one of those albums which I feel I should love but for some mysterious reason I never got.
I clearly feel that Peter's Genesis and Phil's Genesis (particualrly after Hackett's departure) are different enough to nearly be 2 bands and any combination becomes possible, (loving one, hating the other, loving both, loving one, only liking the other ...).

As such, this makes Genesis a band which will have less coherence among its fanbase than typical bands.

I personally am a Peter fan and i can accept the post-75 Genesis only if I accept to consider it as a new band. I do a little of the same with Yes pre and post 90125. But I can totally understand the appeal of Phil's Genesis and even to call it Phil's or Peter's Genesis is something i do for convenience because, truth of the matter, the other members were always very active and an integral part of the band and the sound.

You don't have to know a song or songs from an album which is considered to be a classic. You can only hear post-Gabriel Genesis songs on the radio, because they made more popular music, so this is the reason. You will never songs like 'In the cage' or 'The colony of Slipperman' on the radio...though they are absolutely great pieces of music.

I'm with you JMan. I think Invisible Touch is their best. I don't get the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway at all and rank it very low. I prefer the Phil Collins Genesis over Peter Gabriel Genesis as a whole.

I wasn't saying Selling England was a bad album. I just think Invisible Touch is underrated.
