Cellar Door's description seems to me to be pretty apt. I personally think that the album is somewhat overblown and pretentious following in the footsteps of the Beach Boys. The band were much better focusing on what they did best exemplified by their masterpiece Da Capo.

I think it fits in the definition of the genre. Because it is one of those great albums, it also has other aspects to it that won't fit snuggly in the definition of psychedelic.

I'm actually not sure, sort of, I guess, less so than other bands though maybe.

I read this on another site and cannot confirm Arthur Lee's statement :

"I was into the era but I wasn't a flower child. Forever Changes isn't psychedelic." - Arthur Lee discussing Love in a long interview in June 2002 issue of Uncut magazine, pg. 102
