I was the perfect age (11 to 14) for Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane & Diamond Dogs when they came out. All are albums I still enjoy immensely, so the '69 to '73 period would get my vote.

totally agree 1977 was 1 hell of a year for Bowie fans, LOW, HEROES, & the 2 Iggy albums, the guy really is a genius, wish we could hear some new stuff sometime soon.

favourite 10 Bowie lp's so anywhere from '69-'80, but also really like most of the pre Space Oddity material, plus Heathen, Outside, & both Tin Machine lp's, basically anything except lets dance, tonight & nlmd, although all 3 lp's had some high points, especially Loving The Alien from Tonight.

One thing i never understand about Bowie is why people like diamond dogs? Not only is there nothing new or innovative but also just as regular pop songs there's little enjoyment there.

Diamond Dogs is not his most innovative indeed, but nonetheless it's a very solid album I think. The song-writing on it is still first-rate. Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing Reprise, Rebel Rebel, Diamond Dogs, We Are the Dead are all great tracks, and the rest is also decent enough.
It's probably more of a transitional record. Not his best or most important one, but still essential Bowie 😄

The Berlin era definitely! 😄 But I would stretch it to include Station to Station and Scary Monsters. While it does something entirely different, I find Scary Monsters to have more in common with the three Berlin albums than with Bowie's 80's albums. Station to Station is really a transitional album, but it has the same tense coldness that is so present on the Berlin albums.

But basically everything from Hunky Dory to Scary Monsters is fabulous. Outside is outstanding too I think. Heathen is not bad either.
It's really close between the folk/glam years and the berlin years. I don't think I can choose between those two.

My favorite Bowie albums are:
1.	The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars-1972
2.	Hunky Dory-1971
3.	Low-1977
4.	Heroes-1977
5.	Station to Station-1976
6.	Scary Monsters-1980
7.	Aladdin Sane-1973
8.	Young Americans-1975
9.	Let's Dance-1983
10.	Diamond Dogs-1974

So I guess that would mean my favorite Bowie eras would be:
1.	1969 to 1973: Folk to glam rock (A Man of Words... - Ziggy Stardust)
2.	1976 to 1979: The Berlin Era (Low - Lodger)
3.	1974 to 1976: Soul, R&B, and The Thin White Duke (Young Americans - Station to Station)
4.	1980 to 1989: Bowie the 80's God (Scary Monsters - Never Let Me Down)

Hello - Not sure if this has been covered before, but I thought I would see what people's opinion is about Bowie's diverse career.
