I think I've heard about a dozen or so albums in this genre. This album lands somewhere in the middle of my liking.

I just don't really like what Opeth do though. A case of "I'm not interested in this sort of stuff" not "others did it first/better".

My taste in metal is usually:
-noisy fuzzy black metal stuff you'd probably hate (Paysage D'hiver, Peste Noire)
-the harsher, weirder death stuff (Gorguts, Demilich)
-weird hard to classify shit (Sigh, Ved buens Ende)
