IDK what kind of a mongoloid you would have to be to use RYM. Like everyone said that site looks like dogshit. I can barley read the forums everything just bleeds together.

In regards to BEA vs RYM:

BEA's overall chart is IMO better for someone who's just getting into music (most of the albums that appear on the overall chart will be classics who were both a critical and commercial success - on RYM some of them are way down the order, because they are by artists and bands who are polarizing).

On the other hand RYM's is better for those who are looking for more obscure stuff, as those albums will sometimes be very high on the charts, despite being relatively unknown. Another example, I helped myself a lot with RYM when trying to find out more about the music of ex-yugoslavia. Whereas on BEA, I'm the one adding these albums in the database! Of course, in this case, this is the result of BEA being a younger, and a smaller website.

The look of the site, and, for the most part, the forums, are better on BEA. And when the custom charts come, I will have very little more to ask for from BEA.

Yeah, I agree with the look of RYM, but BEA in its early days was a turn off. Much better look and feel today.

The problem with RYM is that it is ugly beyond words. I can't use a website that looks like it was built by a hoarder.

BEA is one good looking website. Especially when compared to RYM.

A few years ago, this debate wouldn't even have happened, so things are moving in the right direction. Once tagging is introduced, it'll again be another step forward for BEA. The overall chart here, as well, can be customised with quite a few parameters, so you don't have to accept the version out of the box.

(Please can people quit with Obama and take it to the politics forum.)

So there's absolutely nothing wrong with BEA, even if it's not the only good music website 😉

RYM has been essential the last few years for discovering new albums thanks to the genre tagging option which works really well most of the time.

So with this in mind, I'm sure it will be great news for BEA soon enough.

I love the BEA forums, where actual music discussions can take place. Even with Beatles vs Radiohead topics and not so "controversial opinions" that keep coming back 😉

Too much trolling, showing off and monologues on the RYM forums in comparison.
