Who's Next:

The thing about this album, is that the filler is good. If an album has filler songs that still blow you away, there really isn't any flaws. The intro is a damn near perfect song, and the last two number are also amazing songs. Won't Get Fooled Again is my personal favourite off this album, followed by 'Getting In Tune'. - Hayden

At Filmore East

Live albums are often of poor quality of both content and technology. Sometimes there are exceptions. "At Fillmore East" is a real top in its field. It captures amazing moments of a great live band's ability to to play audience. Album, the songs are stretched into long, but are by no means monotonous. Listen even if the "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed," you can hear how the men of the South make playing guitar a sheer emotion - Error Finn

Faust

'Faust' is vaguely reminiscent of aspects of Zappa-esque collage allied to the Red Crayola. Technically, the music on the album pushed to the extreme an aesthetics of darkness, ugliness, fear, chaos and irrationality. When I first heard this, I didn't understand it, but after a few listens it began to slowly permeate into my brain. Nowhere else has such an audacious attempt been made at transposing expressionism, surrealism, theater of the absurd, Brecht/Weill's cabaret, Wagner-ain melodrama, musique concrete and abstract painting to rock music. All the above elements are fused together in a deliberately incoherent way. It is only during the last few recited lines of poetry that close the album, do all of the musical and lyrical puzzles and puns that preceded it, fall into place. 'Faust', is in its totality, a beautifully demented piece of music, that actually, behind the surface, is a moving and lyrical vision of the human condition - one of the most lyrical in the entire history of rock music. This is a music that was at one and the same time illustrative of the progressive-rock movement, whilst also simultaneously managing to transcend it. - Hairymarx1 (can always depend on him for a good comment for stuff like this)

I guess none of us (myself included) caught that Let's Stay Together actually WAS from 1971, because it was a (eventually losing) contender about a week ago for Team 1972. 🤣
