In my case I think 100 is a good number. Anyway, this website allows you to put as many albums as you want, so if you have less, then just put less. I have noticed that "Albumaster" who is the #1 member of this site has only 32 records in his collection.

i can absolutely relate! i have a max 50 restriction and i can't fill it with albums i completely love 🧱
it's now a top 37 and even that has 1 or 2 fillers. though it might be due to my low listening experience. i started to relisten to my whole collection which includes some records i never listened before . maybe i can find some new gems 🙏

Well it depends on mood. Right now I don't feel like listening to Loveless, but it's still in my top 3 of all time. It's not that I get tired of albums, it's that I go through phases where I listen to different genres. That's why I have a hard time ordering everything.

And because there's so much music that I love, plus discovering new ones, I don't have time to listen to all my favorites regularly. I listened to Music for the Masses yesterday for the first time in months, and I might love it more now because it was sort of like rediscovering its greatness.

I feel that my top Beatles albums and a few other albums outshine all other albums. Probably about 10-20 albums are high above all other albums, but I wouldn't go as far as calling the rest filler, they're still very great albums!

Top 40 of mine (or those with comments) are legitimate entries. The rest I love as albums and deserve their place. It is a constant struggle of whether to pull it all down and start again, or remain with the current arrangement.

They still are the best 100 albums, IMO. I just don't consider them all masterpieces 😁

If everything on your main chart affects the overall chart, then wouldn't it be fair to not have 100 if you have to pad it with filler? Aren't you adding to the filler on the overall chart by doing so?

It depends on the day, I s'pose. Sometimes I feel a legitimate 45 or 50 albums are my favourites (never gone above 49 albums on my chart). Sometimes I feel I'm being too soft, and I'm strict enough to say there are only 20 albums genuine to me (current chart).

The only thing that remains consistent is this:

- Boredoms and Natural Snow Buildings are my favourite bands, and you will likely see at least 2 or 3 albums from each of them on my chart for a long while.
- "While You Were Out" by Kazumoto Endo is the most impressive thing I've ever heard other than works by aforementioned bands.
- "Bitches Brew" is my favourite Jazz album.
- "Amplifier Worship" is my favourite heavy metal album.
- "Ummagumma", "Trout Mask Replica", and "Ys" feel like they should always be on my chart for reasons difficult to explain.
- My chart will continue to grow more and more diverse and worldly as I spread my horizons. Every time I update my chart, I think it has gotten a bit better.

my top ~75 are legitimately what i'd call my "favorites." after that is a mix of albums that are either a) starting to reveal themselves to me, or b) albums i used to like a lot more, but are slowly falling out of favor (although i still enjoy them a lot).

I think, in a few months, I'll be at a place where it's definitely "filled out," though.
