The Boy Bands Have Won, and All the Copyists and the Tribute Bands and the TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture to Be Shaped by Mimicry, Whether from Lack of Ideas or From Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try to Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother's Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don't Just Regurgitate Creative History, or Hold Art and Music and Literature as Fixed, Untouchable and Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try to 'Guard' Any Particular Form of Music Are, Like the Copyists and Manufactured Bands, Doing It the Worst Disservice, Because the Only Thing That You Can Do to Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It's Over, Then It's Done, and the Boy Bands Have Won by Chumbawamba

This. Whoever said Pavement is right too.

I'd add the Beastie Boys. Hip-hop album titles are often horrible, but the Beasties bucked that trend.

Although they sometimes stray a bit too close to sounding like a teenage metal band's titles Earth have some pretty cool album titles, The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull being my favourite.
As well as Pavement having great album titles I also love the little scribblings on their early releases.

I might be biased but I always figured even if you don't know who The Flaming Lips are you would still be intrigued by all their album titles.

Oren Ambarchi (Audience Of One, Grapes Of The Estate, Sagittarian Domain, Triste, In The Pendulum's Embrace)

Foetus (Hide, Nail, Hole, Deaf, Null, Void, Blow, Flow, Gash etc.) - always the most interesting as all his titles are 4-letter 1-syllable words.

I find it hard to judge whether a song title works or an album cover works until hearing the music.
