You know earlier on when you were all talking about Dinosaur Jr being an influence to Grunge?

I've just remembered about Flipper - Generic Flipper it sounds grungy as hell.

I got done with Apple by Mother Love Bone, even though I couldn't find a track on YT. Now I'm listening to a good grunge band which I don't think anyone here's mentioned yet: Skin Yard. Heavier than the average grunge. The album is 1000 Smiling Knuckles. I'll let you know what I think.
The one you posted earlier wasn't even their grunge chart Jman. If you click on charts, then you can pick any genre you like to look for the "best of" if you go to the bar next to "only include genres" (they have other options at that point too). The "chart" you looked at was the best rated by those users, not a grunge chart.

They're close enough that calling them grunge isn't too bad, though obviously they fit into other genres much better.

EDIT: Also, RYM has grunge listed as one of their genres (not their main one obviously) http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/dinosaur_jr_
I'd highly recommend Affinità-Divergenze fra il Compagno Togliatti e Noi – Del Conseguimento della Maggiore Età by CCCP Fedeli alla linea as far as post - punk goes (I completely forgot about this album until this came up). Some very nice stuff.

You can find the album on groovershark (though you'll have to copy/paste the album's name into the search bar as the artist's page doesn't have the correct one).

I would actually recommend you look at the bands nominated for the Post Punk/New Wave tourney, and if anything seems interesting to you, try them out.

Them being said I love Joy Division, they are just a polarizing band.
I think that's a fair label. Like how The Modern Lovers are proto-punk.

Well, to be fair, you could call Dinosaur Jr. grunge and you wouldn't be too far out of the ball park. They're close enough that calling them grunge isn't too bad, though obviously they fit into other genres much better.

EDIT: Also, RYM has grunge listed as one of their genres (not their main one obviously) http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/dinosaur_jr_

And no, it's not prominent, but it isn't too far off.
