Well I'm the complete opposite. For me, after Black Holes they put out nothing good, except for the Exogenesis Symphony.

Seen both live twice, heard all albums by each. Both were huge bands for me when I was a teenager so there's still some sentimentality left over. I now loathe Muse but still enjoy Coldplay so it's easily Coldplay for me (even when I liked both I never thought Muse came close in terms of songwriting ability or even (despite what some Muse fans may think) innovation.

And why was Radiohead brought into this? *sigh*

anyway:

A Rush Of Blood To The Head > Viva La Vida > X&Y > Parachutes > Black Holes And Revelations > Mylo Xyloto > Showbiz > Origin Of Symmetry > Absolution > The Resistance > Poverty > The 2nd Law

Okay so it's Coldplay in a landslide.

Has to be Muse, although my favorite song between the two of them is "The Scientist", by far.

The 2 songs on The 2nd Law that I found unsustainable were Panic Station and Survival, and to a lesser extent, Follow Me.

back to Muse's last two albums...

I wasn't terribly excited with The Resistance when it first came out, but then I heard the lyrics, and the message of the album. I then started to pay more attention to the music. For example the song Resistance was kinda boring at first, but now I think it is awesome, as I understand it better now.

Although I think it is cool that Wolstenholme got a chance to sing two songs on here...Save Me was terrible. Also, the 2nd Law is the most disjunct album of theirs.

Supremacy - Awesome
Madness - Awesome
Panic Station - Awesome
Prelude
Survival - The Olympics ruined it...
Follow Me - Not Bad
Animals - Awesome
Explorers - Not Bad
Big Freeze - Good
Save Me - Horrible
Liquid State - Good
The 2nd Law: Unsustainable - Awesome
The 2nd Law: Isolated System - could've ended better

The Resistance- found everything awesome except for I Belong To You (although the song by itself could've been ok, but ruins this album, so I hate it more for the album ruining than the song by itself).

I think they could have done better on the last track too. I like it a lot, but the whole power out thing I think could have been done better... I don't know if you noticed, but it was like the power had ran out, 2nd law of thermodynamics and our society being unsustainable and all... the power out thing should have been more powerful, and I think it would have made that song more powerful...

One thing I've noticed about Muses's last 2 albums, is how bad the tracks are ordered, it's like they line them up in order of "singleness" and just keep that as the tracklist. The 2nd Law ends with 2 of the weakest tracks of the album, The 2nd Law: Unsustainable sounds like a song that wasn't fully fleshed out and just try's to be "Hey look my guitar sounds like dubstep lets make it a song". Then the last tracks is a short instrumental, it's the most anticlimactic way to end it. If you want to have an instrumental as the last track, at least make it a memorable one.

The last two are two of the best on the album! 😮 😮 😲

I'm indifferent to Explorers, Animals, Follow Me etc yet those two... they take the album to great places! I have even listened to The 2nd Law: Unsustainable on repeat at times! Never has a Muse song been given such an honor by Outlaw in the past! And the piano's... fantastic end. There are Manic Street Preachers albums with worst ends (no seriously! I don't care for Gold Against The Soul the track, S.S.Y.M. and Don't Be Evil) than The 2nd Law.

So perhaps the Muse album I have enjoyed the most

I actually liked Animals, although I think it could have been a bit more fleshed out, Explorers I never cared for. Follow me was good, albeit a bit derivative.

I probably listened to it 2 or 3 times before reviewing it for my school newspaper last fall

If you compare the early albums with the later albums of Muse you will hear that Matt has improved his voice a lot every new album. That is a reason why the later albums are better, thereby has the band more experience and you can hear that too.
