Anyway, Bat Out of Hell is based on a dystopian, futuristic off-Broadway play called Neverland, which never got produced. I read the script on Jim Steinman's official website. IT SUCKS!

God, I hate the term "rock opera". "Concept album" is bad enough, but "rock opera" actually makes me feel a little nauseous.

It's simple. A rock opera is only an opera that tells a story, or is based on a story, or very opera-like. Bat Out of Hell is based on Peter Pan. Tommy tells the story of a deaf, blind, dumb kid. And ANATO is very opera-like.

No I can easily name examples of rock opera, just curious as to what specifically comprises a "rock opera"
