Since I Left You is probably the best place to start. But whatever you do, don't go with Since I Left You first, it's by far their most experimental, and even though it's good, it takes a long time to get into.

I don't like to abuse other peoples opinions and say mine is better, but anyone who went for anything other than Since I Left You is an utter idiot.

Woah woah woah, what's so wrong about Since I Left You? I mean, at that point in their career they'd obviously found their niche, but I think it's a really fresh album in a lot of ways. It has their classic sound but expands upon it a lot, at least in my eyes.

Honestly, if you switched Since I Left You and Since I Left You, I would agree. I know it's pretty controversial to have Since I Left You at number 1, but I agree with you.

Since I Left You: Horribly inconsistent. I hate nearly every track on it, most of them are unoriginal and boring, and it's so obvious they're just copying modern pop artists. 4/10
Since I Left You: An improvement over their debut. The songs are much more fun this time around now that they have added some noisy guitars and screeching violas to the mixture. It's a wonder how they make it all work so well. 7/10
Since I Left You: Wow, the leap in quality from Since I Left You to Since I Left You to Since I Left You is so great. I really like this, quite a unique and amazingly diverse pop album. Actually it might even be so much more than that. The style of the previous album is still present in a few tracks but for the most part it's hard to tell this is even the same band. Just how did they suddenly get so creative and where did they develop all these styles in just a few months? The free jazz freak-out at the end was quite enjoyable and fascinating IMO even though some people understandably seem to have hated it. To conclude, the Avalanches are turning into a modern Velvet Underground. 8.5/10
Since I Left You: A disappointment. Almost as diverse as its predecessor but this time they don't really do much with the new styles they try out. Still, it might be as good as their second album. 6.5-7/10
