It was two days ago. I found out at noon that Muse was playing a free show at the Olympic park in town (I live in the Atlanta metro). I left immediately, braved the insane traffic (did I mention the NCAA Final Four tournament is here too?), paid $30 parking, ate nothing all day, stood through a Flo Rida concert and a screening of the game for five hours, made my way up front by Matt's mic, nearly got kicked out, and spent the rest of the night 15 feet away from one of my biggest heroes of all ever.

Best part was Hysteria. They led into it with Resistance and a Hendrix style Star-Spangled Banner and after it they broke into Back in Black.

Unfortunately for me such a moment never came from playing music. Though the first time I heard Zeppelin, the song was Black Dog, when I was 13 is the most vivid memory I have of listening to music. I also remember in High School going on a road trip to see Guns N' Roses with my best friend. It was one of the first concerts I'd been to and the feeling of arriving and seeing the arena lights, I felt like I was in a movie (a la films such as Detroit rock City, etc.)

A more recent one was October 2011 seeing a punk/bluegrass band called Larry and His Flask play. I had been loving their debut and they hit the first note with an incredible level of energy and the stand up bass player began dragging his instrument all over the stage while playing very well. Within the first minute I was convinced they were my new favorite band, which they remained for some time.

I shook Iggy Pop's hand in 2009 in Paris at Saint Lazare while he was leaving an autograph signings for his latest album. We exchanged a few words but nothing too fancy.

A friend of mine who I at the time had a crush on once acquired two tickets to see the Flaming Lips. She only knew of their music through me, actually, and hadn't even heard any of their albums at that point. She knew how I was a big fan, and yet, of course, invited her boyfriend of about 5 days to go with her instead. Her boyfriend had no clue who the Flaming Lips were, of course. To this day she has no clue how much I resent her for this.

I saw Flea in a Santa costume and John Frusciante, and some friend of theirs on the piano play a song from one of the best Christmas albums "Christmas Time Is Here"

Once I was at this Ministry show and there were these 2 hecklers in the crowd who gave the 2 opening bands shit all night. And when Ministry finally came on, Al Jurgenson, the lead singer, didn't take it from these 2. He must have been drunk or something or having a bad day. But anyway, about 7 minutes into their song "So What", right after he delivered the line "Now, I'm ready to fight", Al jumped off the stage and onto one of these guys and started beating him down. Anyway, all hell broke loose and everyone had to leave (about 800 of us) and then all the cops arrived and it WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!! I was like 13 at the time and that show was also the first show that I ever braved the mosh pit. And I also happened to get chicken pox from that show, I assume from one of the bastards in the pit. Anyway, it was a magical night.

My sister, awesomely enough, was up in front of the stage and got kicked by one of Al's boots when he jumped. She was proudly showing off the bump on her head for a couple days.

Don't know whether to be happier about you playing with Big Star or confused as to how a rock star did not know the Free song All Right Now. It's a classic!
