Whatever size it is it should be uniform. In other words I don't want some people having 80x80 and some 100x100 and others 120x120. That would totally make it look messy. I don't think it would be messy if it was increased to 120, max.

I'm all for larger avatars. ATM the site leaves, when the window is maximized, 300 pixels on each side unused.

I haven't been here that long, but I think 100x100 pixels is pretty standard. It allows for personalization but not so much that people are blatantly promoting themselves. 100xx works on other sites, I really think it could work here.

I kinda like the 80x80 p limit to the avatars but i think you could increase it to 100x100 without noticeably cluttering the forums.

Maybe having a bigger version of the avatar on users profile pages would be a good idea?

I've been on several forums with much bigger avatars than here, and they always look a mess to me. I think the current size is fine, though if they decide to make it bigger, I pray they only do it by a tiny amount.

yeah, the forum avatars. and based on puncture's pic, i'd say between 100-150 pixels?

I disagree. IGN has big avatars and the forums look fine to me. RYM has no avatars on the forums and it looks bland. I'd resize it by only an extra 10x10, though. 20x20 max.

Here's a quick size guide I whipped up. 80px being what we have now.

I think 80px is about the right size, I don't think enough detail is lost for it to be enlarged to much.

Is there anyway we could make the avatar size bigger? The resolution is kind of low right now...
