Puncture Repair wrote:

Strings instantly improve most songs in my books.

But it's the Cello that I die for in any song. Gorgeous sound, especially when it's a little sharper and more croaky, sounds perfectly somber. I could listen to something like this all day

Link

Add it to alternative/post-rock and I'm instantly in love.

Amen to that, I love the sound of cello in modern music. Viola sounds awesome too, but usually when there's strings, it's either cello or violin, or a whole ensemble. I really can't think of a song which features just a viola on it actually.

Also, I have a real liking for bells. Don't ask me why, but the use of big church bells (or bells the size of church bells) in a song always gets me real into it.

The sound of an organ is also pretty awesome.

The Electric Jug should be way more common in music. It might be a pretty pointless instrument but damn it's cool. The 13th Floor Elevators had the right idea.

If The Wall had an Electric Jug in the boring parts it would be helluva better album.

This has caused me to go off a lot of classical music, meaning the classical I listen too is generally pure brass stuff.

Oh, no. The violin is to classical music (and other musical genres) what the electric guitar is to rock. It's the one doing the singing, the weeping, the screaming, the soloing, the magic, the notes that the piano can't play, etc... basically!

if you like some kinda sounds like Strings(but it's not really string instrument)

Ondes Martenot would be perfect!

Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead plays it at Post-Kid A works
and it sounds really lovely(at least for me, some says it makes scary sound 🙁 )

/And Julian Koster of Neutral Milk Hotel and The Music Tapes plays many epic instrument
for instance he plays saw (yes, literaly 😁 )
Sitar is an instrument I enjoy hearing.

Some may know I do not like the sound of violins, with very little songs with violins in them I like but there are a few(Eleanor Rigby, Bittersweet Symphony and a few others). This has caused me to go off a lot of classical music, meaning the classical I listen too is generally pure brass stuff.
