Heaven is awesome. It's totally on par with anything they've done.

Back on topic of greatness.

The Walkmen. From the organ sound on the first to records to Matt Barrick's sensational drumming to Hamilton Leihauser's powerful, strained vocals. There's something truly special about this band. They've managed to combine Harry Nilsson and Leonard Cohen with dc punk and 90s indie.

Bows & Arrows is awesome

I've actually been getting into The Walkmen lately, heard The Rat on a indie satellite station and really dug it. I love their sound, it's like a way harder, more raw version of Interpol or something. Kind of like how I always wanted Bloc Party to sound. I've only heard a bit so far, but I've got several albums lined up to listen to soon. Cool to see them get mentioned here. =D

That's great to hear. The Walkmen have been one of my favorite bands since they formed. There's not an album I don't love. Also, a bunch of the guys were in another band called Jonathan Fireater which was also pretty amazing.

The Rat is definitely the closest they've had to a hit and its hard to find anyone who doesn't like that song.

Beautiful album. I still can't decide which Eels album is my favorite: this, Daisies Of The Galaxy, or Beautiful Freak. Each one is amazing.

Also been listening to Post Nothing by The Japandroids a lot recently, I think I like it more than Celebration Rock.[/i]

Wow! That was great!

Have you ever heard his cover of Paul Simon's "Graceland"? It's on YouTube. It's really great.

Dude, they really are great! The album that I love the most by them (that may be on this list) is "You and Me" it just misses getting on my chart. But it's definitely one of my faves of the 2000s.

"Red Moon" off that album in particular gets me every time.

Exile In Guyville by Liz Phair

This is the best album and no one seems to know. Everyone know's it's very good... but it has very little chart appreciation around these parts :(

I like it a lot... but I feel whitechocolatespaceegg is much more interesting.

I disagree, buuuut it is still a.maze.ing! And "Criminals" may be his greatest song ever. And "Little Brother" is also one of his top 10. But, yeah everything mr. Mattson touches turns to ethereal perfection.

On their EP Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada on the song BBF3 there's some guy reciting a poem which is just a bunch of lyrics from the song Virus by Iron Maiden.

Awesome! I'm glad you liked it! I agree in the vox. There is so much beauty and tension and release and texture and movement and detail and just EXPRESSION on that album with the music. Love the eerie spoken word that floats in and out at times, like the creepy preacher "the god-man the god-woman" and the old man nostalgizeing (wrong spelling) "When I was young I got lost in Coney Island."

I adore it!

Tallest Man is great. I really need to go back and listen, because it's ridiculous that he's not in my charts.

The Wild Hunt by The Tallest Man On Earth

No record ever seriously challenged London Calling for my ALL TIME GREATEST ALBUM crown until about 10 years after discovering that record I heard this one. The songs and playing here are all very natural. The rough, impassioned vocals are at all times so perfectly paired with the subtle complexities and richness of the guitar tones. The record sounds roughly recorded, but to no detriment to the presentation. On the contrary the production enhances the sound and overriding concept of the album. And finally the songwriting though quite abstract is superb. The depth of the metaphors and the beauty of the imagery are fantastic. "The Wild Hunt" is the best album I own tied with LC.

It's a remarkably organic sounding album. And this goes for his debut "Shallow Grave" and his gorgeous third album from 2012, "There's No leaving Now". also his first eponymous debut EP is also great and perhaps his greatest release (tied with the Wild Hunt in my book) is his 2010 5 song EP "Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird" is about as beautiful and natural and spiritual as music can get.

Just imagine a dude with an unshaven, taut face, in jeans and a dirty T-Shirt, with an old beat up acoustic, in the woods or at an old bench in some long-forgotten park, writing songs and playing them with earnest fire and grit with an amazing joy and love for all the ramifications and strange scenarios of living, that's this artists' music so far in a nut shell. I totally romanticize it, but this is music that is made to get romantic about. Pure music for the clean hearted and spiritual wanderers.

Yeah, I honestly feel like this is just perfect music. For me, it just feels like complete harmony with the universe and it's varied intanglements with Love, Loss, Dreams, all these human ideas. They just mesh well. The songs here feel like they've existed in my world forever. They feel like whispers in your ear that you hear when you're asleep and on another plain. They feel like my deepest soul's expressions that for so long have been trapped away; stowed away.

I adore this musician, this music, this album to the very limit of how much I can love an album.

Anyway, that's my blah blah blah about what I love.
