I've decided I've been deceiving myself by not including live albums on any of my charts. I love live albums. In many cases I prefer live versions of my favorite songs over studio ones. Most of my favorite artists are my favorites because they are exceptional live performers. I've gone through periods of life where I never listened to anything but live music. I have an extensive collection of live albums and bootlegs.

When I first started working on my charts I thought that since the goal of the site is to find the best ever albums that I should focus on studio albums. But I've left off many of what I consider to be my favorite albums by doing this.

Thing is that I need to come up with a way to decide what makes a live album one of the best ever albums. It needs to be about performance and something unique other than just a collection of my favorite songs. I'm going to need to spend some time on this, but I think I've decided I have to integrate live albums into my charts.

Is Your Chart Frustrating? Ok, I believe, this is a hobby for a lifetime job ... The music, which is getting to be too familiar - is the beginning of frustration. Surely everyone has the "most listen to list" which is quite different than the "favorite list". "Newly discovered music" again doesn´t mean that it will become a perennial favorite. Every year the must find new music (may be old), and old discs - often listened
, is again to be found.

I have decided that yes my chart is frustrating. Every time I listen to an album I feel like it needs to be moved up the rankings. There are albums I feel like are missing from my top 100. I am constantly seeing albums and saying that needs to be in the top 100. I've even recently started to doubt my overall #1 album.

I'm also frustrated with the right way to put comments on there. I think putting comments adds so much to charts and the charts I like are the ones with good comments. But I struggle with the right way to do it without sounding like a pompous ass.

I'm going to need to overhaul the thing again but I need to put some time into it.

My chart is a lot less irritating than it used to be. I'm pretty happy with the order of the albums I've included now.

I'm just on my first chart which is (listed as my Greatest Music Albums chart) my top Country Albums chart and I'm only at eleven and am already at a crossroad. To think, one day I would like to see the chart expanded to 100.

I do a series of top 10's.

The first page of my chart is my ten favorite albums in no particular order.
The second page of my chart are my second tier of favorite albums in no particular order. Et cetera.

Make sense?

I also wanted to integrate some hip-hop into my chart but I think I did it dishonestly.

It his charts, he can do what he wants with them, even if the reasoning may seem pecuilar. We can't force someone to change 'em because we find their basis of crafting them incorrect or awkward. That being said, JMan, my humble advice is to, yes, start paying attention to how each album you listen to affects you as an individual and not worrying about how they fit some sort of criteria. That not only helps bring out a more personal, persuasive opinion that you can share with the rest of the site, but also allows you to really broaden your listening mindset for all types of music you may initially dismiss because they don't fit into what your initial "criteria"-based view of what a great album should be. Just some advice; not a command

That is true, but it will make your chart more concise and accurate at least. You don't have to have a full chart anyways, mine only has 64 albums on it at the moment.

I'm pretty certain Led Zeppelin doesn't need promotion.

It takes a lot for an album tobe an actual "favorite." Plus, I'm promoting LZ4 as much as I can, even by giving it the 125 points (overall, year, custom) it deserves. Plus, if I went by just favorites, it would rule out the point of my year charts. I like the way my chart is, though. I can't say my chart's frustrating, but I wish I enjoyed OK Computer.
