I rate them with my best interests in mind. Everything with a 70 or above are my favorites. I still listen to some of the below.

But the other point is that I have no problem rating a bad album very low if I feel it deserves but I will not rate a chart very low no matter how I hate it. Bad albums get bad ratings bad charts I just ignore. I am pretentious enough to rate low top selling albums/artists, but I would never do it to somebody who bothered making a chart here.

If your chart has been rated by me, even if the score was low, it means I saw it as worthy for some reason.

A or A+ = 100
A- = 91
B+ = 83
B = 75
B- = 67
C+ = 58
C = 50
C- = 42
D+ = 33
D = 25
D- = 16
F+ = 8
F or F- = 0

I tend to give the albums I like a high score and the albums I dislike a low score. But sometimes I give albums I dislike a high score if they are really hip albums and if it will make me more popular to like them.

On charts, I take off points for the presence of albums by Oasis, Coldplay, Michael Jackson and Bon Jovi, any chart with 3 of those artists I do not rate because I do not want to be mean to people who love music enough to make a chart.

I have many times thought about a really geeky idea: Make an overall chart with all the albums I've heard and rated (which would contain far more than 100 albums of course). The albums given a score would follow a 10*x^2 formula. Number of albums rated 100 would be 10*1^2=10, albums rated 95: 10*2^2=40, albums rated 90: 10*3^2=90, etc..

..just because ranking AND rating albums is confusing!

I just noticed something. I'll sometimes have albums rated 90 or lower put in between my 100 rated albums. I guess that's because I rate any album with all songs at least 70 five stars.

For me, my mind pretty much categorizes things in term of grade values, even if I don't assign them. For me, 75 means average, anything below 75 I didn't like but once you get to around 35 or so that's where hate kicks in. 80 means a fairly good album, 85 is a really enjoyable album, 90 is a great album, 95 is amazing, and 100 is for all intents and purposes perfect.

I round off my actual ratings to the nearest 5 for BEA, otherwise I rate them with an accuracy of 1/100.

My feelings that lead me to give a particular rating vary from album to album, but I'll try explaining what a specific range of ratings "means": generally, 1-20/100 is not good, 25-40 might have a decent idea or two, 45-50/100 have some good moments, 55-60 have much potential but don't really fulfill it as well as they should (usually, this and 65-70 range have albums that are IMO overrated), 65-70 are good, 75-80 are brilliant, 85-90 are almost perfect, 95-100 is for albums that are really really really fun and that it's hard to get tired of.

1-20 is probably the rarest.

I only have my top 3 rated 100
My top 25 are rated 85-100
I guess I try to keep my average as close to 50 as possible but it's probably more like 60

i can be too generous at times 😉
but im still pretty fair. i just don't like going to far below the average rating for that album because then i feel guilty and it doens't really accomplish much. Maybe i should just not rate an album if i don't really like it because to be honest i don't think it's does any good.

I'm an easy grader. Or actually, more like an extreme grader. Sounds contradictory, but what I mean is that if I really like an album I give it 95-100. Albums I really don't like are anything from 5-40ish. Decent ones or ones that don't really do much for me, 50-70. 80 for albums that are just good.

I'm going to be honest here.

I often rate albums higher on here so other people notice them more than others.

Don't get me wrong, I still rate things based on like "Absolutely perfect"/"Awesome"/"Pretty great", etc.
In fact I rate based on the expression, arrangement, musical themes/complexities of the album.

But yeah sometimes I just rate really obscure things really high so other people can have the opportunity to notice and listen to them.

My chart is FAIRLY honest though. (A few things I want to change)
