Pretty much this ^ I was on the verge of tears. I just wanna say I'm pretty certain this is no 1 individual's fault so blame definitely doesn't lie completely with one person but all who were 'in' on it should be well ashamed of themselves especially since I presumed them to be much wiser than this.

I'm locking this thread as it has done enough damage already.

Look, I really get on with a few of the people in this thread, and they're people I consider friends. Not IRL friends or anything, but people who, if I were to ever be within 20 miles of them, I would contact and see if they fancied a pint. They're people I speak to on Skype in a casual, informal, downright easy way, people I really enjoy talking to. That said, I don't care, you're all fucking dicks. I went to a funeral of one of my peers yesterday and it really made me realise how mortal we all are. Pretending somebody's dead for your own entertainment is disgusting. What did you want from this? For Keith to win that fucking stupid tournament? To liven up the site? Do something of merit, you fucking morons. Write something insightful about a piece of music you love. I was ready to eulogise at length about how fucking amazing Keith "was", an actual friend from the other side of the world who handed down far more knowledge than he would ever admit to, a real, genuine person in a world full of fucking idiots. You're fucking better than this Paris. I'll tell you on Skype how little I appreciate this. It's mad fucking retarded. Congratulations.

If this is true, then I really am at loss of what to say. I won't pretend like purple was hugely important in my life, but he's one of those characters that somehow crossed paths with mine and made it that much more interesting.

It's so easy to forget about mortality, especially with those on the internet, it's hard to tie a name on a screen with a real person, with real feelings and friends and family.

I hope that my condolences, however potentially insignificant, make at least some difference.

It's really hard to believe this and if it's true, it's genuinely shocking since I think we rarely think of BEA users, especially major ones like purple, passing away.

Anyway, it's strange how when somebody passes away, one only thinks of that person's good qualities, and that's what's happening to me now.....In fact I think I'm gonna listen to something by Scratch Acid now.

RIP purple (what was his real name, anybody knows?)

[Oh yeah, and what exactly happened to him anyway? He wasn't very old, was he?]

Last time I messaged purple was about promos for PPNW. Both his nominations got knocked out but I cannot thank him enough for the banter, the recommendations and the interest he brought to BEA.

Shit, was not expecting to read something like this today. This is extremely sad news, purple was a fantastic user, great comments, his charts gave me recs on numerous occasions and he was the only other geologist I've come across on this site. I really can't do him justice in one mere post. RIP man, my condolences to ptaylor and all those close to him, on BEA and the real world.

Should we do something more for him? This is the first time (I know of) that a user passed away. I think the proper way to honor him is for BEA to get together and make a big project all about Purple, like a song or a collection of his best contributions or comments.

Genuinely tore up with this news, he was such a great guy. I know he was a divisive figure on bea and he always spoke his mind, but I can assure from the few conversations I've had with him that he was a humble,down to earth and genuinely hilarious guy, the world is a lesser place without him. We all come here to talk about and discuss music and to me purple was about as good a music fan as you could come across, open to new and old, all genres and styles, truly a great music fan and who i'm sure provided every user at least one recommendation either directly or indirectly. His life should be celebrated and for me, nothing says purple more than Best Coast, I'll be playing them all summer in his honour. My thoughts are with his family and friends, and to ptaylor whom I know was very close to him.

I didn't know him at all, but from all the amazing things said about him, and the funny posts of his I've seen, I do wish I had talked to him. Even death of people you only barely know is sad. I hope all who knew and loved him get through this all right. I'm sorry. Life is such a fragile thing. 😢 Emoticons seem kind of childish to use right now, but...Hopefully a silly yellow crying face isn't too offensive, and perhaps it might comfort some in a weird way. i'm sorry, i thought everyone knew. He's the one who invited me to BEA and we've hung together since kids (we grew up in san antonio together). I miss the dude more than anyone I've regretted losing. His recommendations and troll capabilities were second to none, if you like sadcore and trolling lol. I don't know if i can continue to BEA with him gone. BEA just won't be the same.
