I like And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead. I don't know how well known they are in other parts of the world, but in Australia they're pretty low on the radar. I think they're really consistent with their output (quality-wise), although they haven't changed their sound too much over the course of their career (but why do people think that is necessarily a bad thing).

I'm gonna say Sia Furler. I've only heard 1 of her albums, Some People Have Real problems, and part of her album Colour the Small One, and little snippets of her band Zero 7. But she's got a good voice.

Agree. They are maybe not that underrated in the UK, but anyway in Europe, or in the US, they are. Especially when compared to Stones. Everyone heard about them, but when it comes to Kinks, only hardcore music fans know who they are. 😲

Lil B. He's viewed as an internet meme phenomenon or joke because of his positive persona or too hard to keep up with because of his productivity, but he's got a lot more than people give him credit for. 6Kiss, the Flame series, PYT, I'm Gay... all these mixtapes and more are some of the most entertaining mixtape listens out there. His lines are occasionally incredibly imaginative, his production is usually good to great, his message is always A+. I suggest I'm Gay for those interested; it's incredibly conscious hip hop with fantastic production and as always a positive message (it would be in my top 50 hip hop albums). When I say thank you based god, it's from the heart.

I'd say he's overrated in comparison to other reggae musicians, but otherwise I don't agree with that. Like nezzle said, the underrated ones are the other reggae musicians.

Everybody is underrated to somebody. I've heard people argue Bob Dylan is underrated because he isn't held in the same regard as Shakespeare (honestly). Personally I think most reggae artists that aren't Bob Marley are vastly underrated on this website, but that isn't the case in Birmingham where I grew up, with a significant West Indian population and regular reggae nights meaning that these artists are in the consciousness of many and often held in very high regard. Gregory Isaacs, for example, is loved by many of my close friends from back home, and would quite easily sell out large concerts here during the 1980s according to people I know who were around at the time. On this website I imagine less than 5% of users have even heard one of his songs, let alone one of his albums, which I think is pretty depressing, but we come across different artists due to our own unique circumstances and the friends we make in life who offer various recommendations over the years, and artists that might be hugely respected in one world may be totally unheard of in another. So whilst I'm saying Gregory Isaacs is tragically underrated, there's probably some dude in Jamaica wondering why the fuck Gregory Isaacs was so popular when everyone could have been listening to Cornell Campbell instead. I quite like these threads because they do shine some light on lesser known artists, but the word "underrated" is a somewhat redundant one.

EDIT: I realise how much I use the term "underrated". I don't really know what I'm arguing here. If you only take one thing away from this post, it should be listen to Gregory Isaacs.
