I pretty much love any songs from White Pony live. Its just the way they are meant to be heard. Change is just one of those moments where time stands still. God I love that feeling

Ive been to almost 50 or so concerts but I started keeping tally and wrote some notes so I can remember each occasion so lets see

#1 Deftones : Simply my favorite live band they have never disappointed, however I started seeing them post 2006, & I will be seeing them for the 4th time in June. But their benefit show for their bassist who is in a coma right now was simply raw euphoric energy. So many guest appearances and the setlist was top notch. Never seen this or any other band put so much into a performance without the aid of stage antics of theatricals. Stunning.

Honorable mentions:
Autolux
Metallica
Tom Petty
Cryptopsy
Alice In Chains
Most embarrassing ticket stub:

The Spin Doctors (with Soul Asylum)--I think I won a ticket to that one on the radio.

HAHA!! I saw that show myself in Devore California which is like 10 minutes from my house. It was 5 dollars to sit in the grass (the grass seating is huge at this venue) so we were like what the hell. I saw a lot of questionable shows due to the 5 dollar grass seats.

                          Let's see,

- Placebo (3 times -wife's favorite band)
- Starsailor/Charlatans UK
- Filter (opening act The Exies were more interesting to me)
- Grant-Lee Phillips with The Winterpills
- Radiohead
- Depeche Mode
- Muse
- Franz Ferdinand
- Keane

And a long time ago, Bill Cosby, but obviously that's not music 😁

I've been to so many gigs/festivals that I couldn't remember or name them all, but for some reason i haven't been to a gig in a couple of years now (the last ones were Prince at the O2 arena and Beastie Boys playing The Mix Up and other instrumentals in Camden Roundhouse).

My top 5 gigs though are:

1. Shihad - BFM Private Function, Auckland Town Hall, NZ - 1999 (i think)
Shihad are the best live band i've ever seen and never fail to deliver, but this was the best right from the beginning starting with Jon Toogood (singer/guitarist) coming on stage and telling the crowd "Alright, let's go fucking apeshit!". I had to have 2 days off work as i was so sore from the moshing!

2. REM - fanclub gig, Brixton Academy, London - 2003 (again, i think or could've been '04)
Being a huge REM fan, this was my first concert of theirs, 1 row away from the stage. Incredible seeing my heroes up close. 2 highlights were cheering at the end of a song and swearing Michael Stipe looked straight at me and smiled, and spotting Badly Drawn Boy up in the balcony and getting a wave from him!

3. Digible Planets - Camden Jazz Cafe, London - 2006 (i think - man! i'm hazy with dates!)
My favourite Hip Hop group of all time. I thought they'd broken up in the '90's, so was surprised and excited to find out they had reformed and were doing a small european tour. Camden Jazz Cafe is a tiny gig, performers have to walk down through the crowd to get to the stage, so it felt like DP were playing in someone's lounge. Sadly i was hoping they would get in the studio and release a new album, but that still hasn't happened...

4. Beastie Boys / Helmet - Logan Cambell Centre, NZ - 1994
My first proper concert so the whole experience was mindblowing to me; from the smell of pot from the balcony, to the punks crowd surfing, the support-band smashing their instruments to Beasties playing 3 sets of Rap, Punk and Instrumentals, it was a great way to start!

5. Coldplay - V Festival Weston Park, UK - 2003
Not a massive Coldplay fan, to be honest only reason i saw them was because we had been camped out infront of the main stage all day, and by the time Coldplay came on (they were headlining) we were a little worse for wear to move. One of the most emotional gigs i'd ever been to. The whole crowd was singing every word, i even shed a few tears during "The Scientist".

also worth a mention are:

Smashing Pumpkins - Mt Smart Stadium, NZ - 1996
Pixies - Brixton Academy, UK - 2003 (or 4?)
And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead / Audioslave - Brixton Academy, UK - 2005(?)
De La Soul - Kentish Town Forum, UK - 2003 or 4
Strokes / White Stripes / Weezer / Jane's Addiction - Reading Festival, UK - 2002
Brian Wilson - Glastonbury, UK - 2006
Snow Patrol - V Festival Chelsford, UK - 2004
Orbital - Creamfields Festival, UK - 2001

okay not going to list all but here's my top 10 from best to worst (and I'm including bands I seen at festivals):

1. The Shins (one of my first conerts and still my favorite because it was such a small venue and there was this intense intimcay because everyone knew the lyrics. just beautiful)
2. Daft Punk [festivalish] (anyone who has seen them live needs no explanation for why they're so high up on my list)
3. Coldplay (seen twice, the second was better though they were both spectacular)
4. Animal Collective (they were brilliant, unfortunately they were playing at a place where 50-65% of the people there were just for a deink and weren't liking what they were hearing)
5. Cut Copy [festival] (2000 or so people crammed into an alley all jumping at the same time, what's not to love?)
6. Stevie Wonder (the only legend I've seen, a lot of middle-aged-opld people at this one which is only disappointing because they sat and didn't dance and I mean if you can't dance to stevie wonder who can you dance to)
7. Arcade Fire [festival] (a band full of so much gusto its infectious, althoguh there seemed to be a lot of non-fans in the crowd (the downfall of all festivals)
8. Battles [festival] (I'm not even a massive fan of the band (and certainly knew little of them at the time) but this performance has stayed with me just for the pure energy and ingenuity)
9. Muse (notoriously a great band on stage)
10. Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti [festival] (like some demented high school prom band, loved it)

H.M's: TV On The Radio, Spoon (both at BDO), Mercury Rev

hahaha got me there... well Opeth best stage presence without relying on epic theatricals and effects

Best performance I've seen with theatrics, fire and decimation goes to Rammstein then haha 😁

A bunch I can think of:

- Bruce Springsteen (The Rising tour in Copenhagen, Denmark, and once more but I can't recall where),
- Iron Maiden (in Gothenburg, Sweden, 2008 or 9. They were playing only songs from Powerslave, Seventh Son, and a few more albums from the 80s),
- Blue Öyster Cult (In Los Angeles maybe 15 years ago),
- Walter Trout (great gig at the House of Blues in Chicago),
- Randy Houser and Jamey Johnson (in Davenport. Randy was great, Jamey, who I like on record, looked like he'd rather kill himself than play the show),
- Peps Persson (probably five times. The best at Fasching in Stockholm, Sweden (don't worry, if you're not Swedish you shouldn't have heard of him)),
- Timbuktu (probably ten times. The best at Mejeriet in Lund, Sweden, at a release party with invited guests only (same note as last)),
- pretty much every Swedish artist that was big there in the 90's as they played at a place I used to work. Most of them stunk, some were ok.
- ZZ Top (the Recycler tour. They still rocked good at that time),
- Scorpions (at Globen in Stockholm when it was just built. Wasn't very good),
- Shane MacGowan (on the tour he did after releasing his first album with The Popes. Played mostly Pogues songs),
- Taj Mahal (at a blues festival. He was old),
- Willie Nelson (of course. He was old at the time but still had it),
- Kris Kristofferson (at a small venue that only took 300 people. He had a bad cold but delivered),
- Two dozen half famous jazz artists and another two or so blues ones.
- EDIT: Forgot Dolly Parton. Wasn't expecting too much when I went there but man could she sing. Was a great show and the best number was a song I don't even like.

Always preferred small sets to big arena shows.
