I both agree and disagree (I do that a lot). I do think people should be honest with their charts and post their favorite albums, even if it doesn't look cool. Realistically, though, I think someone who has thoroughly explored the musical space is unlikely to come up with a list of only albums that are already on the site's top 100. My list is still pretty generic, but that's part of why I'm here. I want to make my list more interesting without having to dishonestly trumpet some obscure piece of hackwork.

Sure there are some people who deliberately go as similar to the overall chart as possible out of some oddball fear of going against the grain, but I believe that those sort of people are a fairly little minority and in general there is a reason many of these albums appear over and over. Deliberately trying to leave them off a chart for the sake of being different is just as fake and ridiculous and deliberately including them.

Usually for me Ill rank fairly high if they have similar tastes to me, if they dont Ill just avoid rating them at all because at that point I dont feel I can fairly judge what they have done because I simply havent listened to much of it. Only times I really rate low are intentional trolling style charts or charts that clearly only exist to try and boost a particular artist's numbers.

When I rate a chart, I rate it based on how much I agree with it and how much I enjoy the chart. It's pretty simple.

As for the constantly repeated albums on charts, I think being mad at that is stupid. I mean, am I making my chart to convey my favorite albums, or am I making my chart so that a community of people on the internet will look at it and, for a split second, think "oooooo this guy's so cool" and then move on, never thinking about it again. Hey, guess what? "Sgt. Peppers" is my favorite album of all time, therefore, on my 100 greatest albums chart, it goes number one. Sure, I could fake something and say "oh man, but this album of a homeless man beating on a bucket of cat litter is so incredible, best album of all time" but what's the point in that if it isn't true? I feel like the charts should be an honest reflection of the albums that are, in your opinion, the best of whatever parameters you've placed on the chart. That's it. If that creates some similar charts, that's cool, who cares? There will be variety on the charts ultimately due to the sheer number of charts and albums.

There is a lot of hype over an outlaws chart but mines better tbh

my average chart rating is pretty low compared to most. dont see it as me being a dick see it as me reserving higher praise for my favorite charts.
