Nearly all top rated songs are from top rated albums anyway, look at the top 2000's and it'll no doubt be comprised mostly of Arcade Fire and Radiohead. I'd pay them no mind.

I see a lot of albums rated, for instance, 80. And the same person then rates each track with an identical score.

Ratings are calculated using a Bayesian average that essentially prevents people from giving 100/100 to obscure songs that nobody knows and vaulting them to the top of the highest-rated songs list. For this reason, songs with 10 or fewer ratings are bound to have ratings very close to 75/100. On more popular albums, you will see more variance among the track ratings.

The rating system has its flaws, sure, but I agree with albummaster's decision to use it as every other alternative would present more issues, in my opinion.

Is it just me, or is every single song rated somewhere between 70 and 85 out of 100? And, why does every song on an album have exactly the same rating? Can anything be done to fix this problem?

At the very least, let me encourage song raters to give a range of ratings. Now, I understand why you would rate the songs on the albums you love first, but come on, vary the ratings a bit. I haven't heard an album yet where every single song was as good as every other.

Now, if all the songs are rated the same, what relevance does the rating have? You see the problem.
