BEA is a community built largely of atheists, Jo clearly finds her comfort from people praying. The thread was left with no reply for over 14 hours and Jo was clearly upset, I didn't want to make it look like nobody cared, but I also wanted to give some insight into why maybe no one had responded, which might have been hard to see.

When I first saw the thread title, I was afraid that this would be about your mom dying.

Well, I'm relieved that this isn't anything like that. Anyway, my dad (he was on a motorbike) got hit by a car driver with no license too, sometime in March this year, so I know how annoying it must be. The driver and his family weren't as stupid and mean about it though, and our relatives were definitely supportive. Anyway, I hope things improve for you and your mom.

Thank you so much y'all for the prayers and encouragement. They are very much appreciated. My mom and me are just wrung out from never having a moment's peace from everything that gets dumped on us, some things I can't go into with y'all due to how embarrassing and personal they are. How my mom was able to get that car in the first place is already bad enough and then for it to be driven into barely a month after she got it, while she is in it, is just emotionally draining when she has been hit so much in the past already. Her previous four cars were hit by other drivers, while she was in them, because people do not pay attention to what is in front of them when they are behind the wheel. One of her earlier cars was crashed into twice and one that she had before it was actually hit by a school bus! The one that she had before that one was not only backed into by an old man who could not see it behind him and actually told us that he can not hear good making my mom laying on her horn no help, that car was actually hit by lightning too on July 2, 2002, two days after my 20th birthday and yes, we were both in it when the lightning did its thing. 😲 😲 😲

And yes, because of how my mom laying on her horn again did nothing to stop what happened to her on Friday, the only person who didn't see or hear what was going on is the word that I can't stay who hit her and him being allowed to leave by driving off in the truck that he hit my mom's car with burns me up even more because he had no driver's license before and after what happened. To me, the cop who let him leave should be booted from the force for not carting the guy off to jail for driving without a license. It makes me wonder how the man that hit my mom was able to score the car insurance that he said that he has when he does not have a license to drive anything! I have two words for that cop for letting that man get away with breaking what is a driving law: OINK OINK!!! 😠 😠 😠

P.S. My mom got her car with what was left to her by her mom who passed away earlier this year on April 10th and if that weren't enough, we lost a friend to us both on April 30th and then our favorite aunt passed away on May 2nd which happens to be my mom's birthday and with her mom gone now, all of my grandparents are a thing of the past. 😢 😢 😢

I'm sorry your family has to be victim to this kind of thing, Jo. Please excuse me for not saying so earlier but I thought Squishy and Jack were a tad out of line (they're great people though, don't get me wrong). Don't let anyone guilt you for not following Christianity closely enough. Everyone should feel free to develop their own moral code regardless of how any church would rather have them live. If you believe that forgiveness is only warranted through apology, more power to you. It doesn't make you un-Christian. That being said, I would also recommend forgiveness - not because it's the "Christian way," but because I'd rather not see you this upset.

Come on, guys. Regardless of what you think of the religious beliefs being expressed, it's important to remember that we're human, and to expect perfection from someone in the way they feel especially under stress is pretty unrealistic. We're emotional beings, and I think that what Jo is feeling is pretty justified given the circumstances. She at least deserves to not be blasted for feeling the way she does. What did she do to you, except to reach out for some moral support? This is supposed to be a community here. How would you feel if you reached out and got a rash of criticism in return?

Jo, my best to your mom. I know it's hard for her, and for you, to see bad things like this happen to people unprovoked. Be happy that she wasn't physically harmed...you still have her there, and it sounds like there will be some justice done based on the fact that there is a witness.

What they said is true though. It does seem extremely hypocritical to hold a belief like that; it flies in the face of what Christianity teaches. I'm not a Christian, but if I was I'd be pretty offended to have the religion's most ardent and vocal supporters not even practice or promote its teachings. It totally misrepresents the religion and, at a time when opposition to religion and Christianity is at a huge peak, that's the last thing any actual Christians want. It's insulting.

To me, there is no such thing as too much prayer. I don't see anything wrong with my bringing this up at this forum of all places either. It was placed in the appropriate area at least. Also if certain people are not interested in anything that I have to say here, that is a right that can't be taken from them by anyone including me.

Y'all I am about ready to LOSE it. After getting it just over a month ago, my mom's car was just hit by another person and not just any person, but a guy who does NOT have a license, a guy who did NOT know how to say that he is sorry for doing it, and a guy who made it as clear as glass that he does NOT care that he did anything wrong in the first place!!! Every prayer that is prayed for us will be very much appreciated.

P.S. The good thing is that she once again walked away without a scratch. The bad thing is that this only freaks her out about driving even more after being hit THREE times two years ago in just THAT year alone.

It gets better. One of my cousins who happens to be a retired police captain saw what was done to my mom. Guess who did NOT stop to make sure that she was okay. I don't know which is worse. What is done to my mom by a brain dead stranger or what ISN'T done to her by our own flesh and blood.
