To be fair, I'll take all the beatings. I put Deja Vu.
But, by definition it's a various artists album. There are various artists in the album, all of which were acclaimed before the production of the album.
Maybe people should be more clear on what 'various artists' is.

However, there's no need to be such a bitch about people trying to just educate you a little.

The actual definition of a various artists album is that each song is from a different artist, which is not the case in the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album. Do you see what I mean? The term is confusing, but various artists does not mean various artists who gather to play music, it means that it's a compilation of songs from different bands. Typically, film scores, tribute albums or genre compilations are various artists albums.

Looking at your chart, you have Ys, Astral Weeks and Bridge Over Troubled Water, I don't see how you can consider Graceland folk, but not those.

Also If you post something in a forum, yeah people are going to discuss it, that's kind of the point, don't excpect people to just ignore what everyone else has posted. Also, heres a thought; if you haven't heard an album from a certain genre(Jazz, British Invasion, etc) maybe just don't post an album in that category? Or even better, go find one of those albums and listen to it.

The things you're being questioned about here are valid. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young albums are NOT various artists albums. Led Zeppelin is NOT a British Invasion band. Steely Dan is known as a jazz-rock band and that's the only Jazz album I've heard. Graceland is the folksiest album I've ever heard, too. And if you wanna talk to someone about various artists, talk to Mod and not me!
