I just heard Modern Vampires of the City. That's my new favorite for the year. Actually, my favorite for the year is still Pure Heroine, by Lorde, but after that it's Modern Vampires of the City. I don't remember what I voted for, if anything, but I thought MVotC was really good.

Someone on this site recommended it to me (or else I pulled it from their List), so thank you, whoever you are. Sorry I can't remember who it was.

Not sure if it's best of 2013, but I'm surprised The Terror hasn't gotten more love. I find it quite powerful.

I haven't listened to much from both years, but out of the critically successful albums, I much prefer the ones from 2013. I don't know about less popular things, though. What I mean is I can't say really say 2013 > 2012, because I've far from listened to enough music to make an interesting judgement, but I can say that :

New Daft Punk, new Mazzy Star, new National, Wondrous Bughouse, new MBV, Acid Rap, etc > Bloom, Tame Impala's album, Good Kid, Blunderbuss, The Idle Wheel, An Awesome Wave, etc

I haven't listened to Reflektor and Channel Orange yet, but I doubt they'll change that. What may indeed change that would be further listened to dozens of albums from each year, and I'm not interested in doing that at the moment. I'm very satisfied with 2013 so far.

Dear god, I hated 2012! I think I there were two albums I liked (Jack White and Tame Impala).

This year though, fuck me, its been incredible! However, I can't seem to settle on a best album. At the moment its between Random Access Memories and AM.

If there were no "Other" category, i'd vote for The National, but there's a chance the new Arcade Fire could eclipse them before too long.

Unlucky. There are a bunch of 2012 albums that I think are better than anything released in 2013 (Freddie Gibbs, Action Bronson, John Talabot, Flying Lotus, How To Dress Well, Parquet Courts, Roc Marciano, Kendrick Lamar, Laurel Halo, The Congos).

As much as I like the new Arctic Monkeys, I think I'll go with Amorphis - Circle, which blew my mind earlier this year.
