60's psychedelia, 70's progressive rock, krautrock, blues, blues rock, mid 70's punk, 80's college, trying to get a hang of some of the newer stuff. A lot of Classical music - not a rock subgerne. 😄

I know genres exist, but there's so many of them that I can't keep track of them. 😕

But, I think the genres I listen to the most would be: Alternative Rock, Indie Rock, Garage Rock, Classic Rock, a surprising amount of Post-Punk and I used to listen to a lot of Hip-Hop when I was younger.

Classic rock; punk and post-punk; alt. rock; electronic music but especially dubstep, grime, UK garage and house music; hip-hop (obviously); soul and funk; reggae. I don't know, I don't keep count of everything I listen to. Hip-hop is probably the genre I've heard most from but it's impossible to say for sure.

Defining genre is kind of a grey area. There's an awful lot of overlap making things difficult.

Rock is the genre I have hard the most of, and psychedelic rock is the no. 1. subgenre, followed by progressive rock, experimental rock, indie rock, indie pop, britpop etc.
The genre I don't know at all is rap.

The thread was about which genres you've heard the most of, not the difference between two. Bigger than than the difference between 1 and 1,000. And if you're so worried about drama, you could delete the thread right now because it's not helping the forums. I don't care what the moderators do with this thread. My only point is this: don't change the subject to early in the thread.

Plus, there's already another thread for that discussion, so we can't have two. Either we get back on topic, or a moderator can delete it. There was a purpose for this thread: to explore new genres. You can't do that by discussing the difference between heavy metal and hard rock. In fact, maybe I'll just make a thread where people can list the genres they need to explore instead of going through complications.
