I've only heard the songs Mecca posted, but it makes me want to hear more for sure. I never cared for Lennon's solo work at all. I'm going East River Pipe, I hope I like his albums as much as the few songs I've heard.

Just listened to ERP's Gasoline Age, it was ridiculously good. Thanks a lot Mecca, there's no way Lennon is going to win this one.

it's great to see all the new love for East River Pipe. He's been on Merge forever but has refused to tour, so it's definitely killed his ability to grow a fanbase the normal way.

I quite like some of John Lennon's stuff, and am of the opinion that listening to Imagine would solve most of the world's problems, but beyond those few popular songs, I'm not a huge fan.

East River Pipe wins for me.

Ok. Guys, Please listen to East River Pipe. I know this match is quite a bit of a mismatch and I'm a huge Beatles fan and love much of Lennon's solo work, but East River Pipe is truly special. Plus he's actually solo. No backing musicians, no Yoko, just FM Cornog and a cheap set of recording equipment.

if you've only got time for one album, I'd recommend The Gasoline Age or We Live In Rented Rooms. And research his backstory, because it's quite interesting. A once homeless, drug addict. His songs speak of the world from the perspective of someone who seen real shit.
