Didn’t get to talking about this, but here we go. I think Have a Nice Life have more prominent textures associated with ambient, drone, and the like over the shoegaze (which Silver did say was still an influence) but if we do associate it with shoegaze its most certainly not traditional in that regard. I love Have a Nice Life and bands like them (yes, there are bands like them) and whilst I love this record I don’t think it’s better or even on par with Deathconsciousness which has more of a franticness and sense of despair that makes me love it so much more. It’s still a top ten record to me and it’s most definitely a grower.

Yeah, this is easily my favourite of the four albums so far. And I actually prefer it to Deathconsciousness for now... Just a really cool mix of different genres (I wouldn't call it a shoegaze album, but it's got enough elements from that genre, so JMan isn't really "wrong"), really atmospheric, quite heavy at times.

I definitely liked it. I wasn't blown away by it, but it definitely was enjoyable to listen to. I do agree with Hayden though, I feel like it's missing something, I just don't know what it is.

I loved Deathconscioussness so I was excited for this album. While I don't think it's as good as DC, I still like it a lot. Probably in my top 3 for the year so far.

The album was pretty good, but I felt that it felt too long at times. What I mean is that it didn't sound bad, but felt like it was running too long despite being 5 - 6 minute long songs. It just got a bit boring at times. overall it was exciting enough to listen and sounded good and even eery at times.

By far my favorite album of this club so far. Only heard it twice but its probably ~top 5 of the year atm (i havent really had time to categorize everything yet)

My feelings on Have A Nice Life being shoegaze are mixed. They're certainly influenced by shoegaze, and a large basis of their sound is in that tradition, but to me I don't really classify Have A Nice Life in any particular genre. To me they're an amalgamation of shoegaze, post-punk, post-rock, and ambient influences with a slight emo tinge to the entire thing, and they don't really fit sqaurely into any of those genres. I wouldn't put it on my shoegaze chart at the very least, but if I don't really know where I would put it. Anyways, am I allowed to post a link to my dropbox on the forums? Because if not I'll just PM it to the people who have asked for a link.

Yeah, great album from this year. Arguably the best actually.

I wish the album had something just a bit more though. Not really sure what was missing, but there was something that it needed 😕 But I can't say it isn't a great album nonetheless.

I listened to the stream twice 😕 Excited to get a physical copy soon 😄

This is an album that I've been wanting to listen to, but I missed the pitchfork advanced by one day (yes, it's a bummer). I would certainly appreciate you putting this in a dropbox or whatever as I want to listen to this one quite a bit.

RYM and Wikipedia call it shoegaze, and the band is called a shoegaze band on other sites. Plus, 39 users voted it "shoegaze" on RYM. No one has to think it's shoegaze if they don't think so, but don't assume I don't know what I'm talking about. It sounds a lot like shoegaze with some drone.

Ignoring the genre labels, it's alright. It was very ups and down for me. There was some cool stuff, but some boring tracks.
