There's going to be a Mongol Horde album next year (Frank's other hardcore project with the drummer from Million Dead), but as far as I'm concerned, Million Dead aren't getting back together. Frank has said this himself.

Million Dead sound like Funeral For A Friend. They're alright

Frank Turner is so much better. I like how simple his lyrics are. Plus there is going to be a Million Dead album in 2014.

There are no bands which I want to break up.

That's a bit far-fetched.

The Velvet Underground obviously, The Smiths spawned Morrissey's great solo career and Johnny Marr's decent solo career + other collaborative stuff, and I think AnCo have had some fairly good stuff from solo outside of Person Pitch, Avey Tare's solo stuff is actually surprisingly good.

Radiohead have had some very hit-and-miss solo stuff and Jack White's Blunderbuss is pretty cool too.

Could say the same about White Stripes...

Also, have to add Pink Floyd to this list. Syd and Roger have had pretty good solo careers. David's most recent solo album is alright, haven't heard much from Rick outside of Floyd and the less said about Nick Mason's Fictitious Sports the better.

I think the obvious answer here is The Beatles but personally I think The Velvet Underground had some great solo artists; Lou Reed, John Cale, Nico, even Moe Tucker.

The Yardbirds come to mind (included Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page), though they had many members and didn't split all at once. I guess my pick is Charlie Parker's Re-Boppers, which included these great solo artists:

Charlie Parker (duh)
Miles Davis
Dizzy Gillespie
Max Roach

This is a thread about the which bands you think have had the most successful break ups, by which I mean the bands which have spawned the best solo artists. I think the obvious answer here is The Beatles but personally I think The Velvet Underground had some great solo artists; Lou Reed, John Cale, Nico, even Moe Tucker.
