This album would probably be slammed less if it were more focused and they cut a few songs.Anyway,Room on Fire might be the last album people like for the Strokes, but for me it's this album.

It's okay. A solid 5/10. One of those bands that got worse with each album.

I always compare The Strokes' and Interpol's discographies, because I feel the exact same about their respective progressions. Classic first album. Very excellent second album. Weird third album. Mostly maddening fourth album. Return-to-form fifth album.

Good. Not great.

Track picks
1. You Only Live Once
2. Juicebox
6. Vision Of Division
14. Red Light

maybe my opinion about The Strokes isn't very objective but i really think that this is one of their best. the first 6 songs of the albums are just perfect.

It isn't as bad as it is made out to be, it's just too inconsistent, especially in the second half. If they'd cut it down to 10 or 11 tracks the album as a whole would have been massively improved. Also, the artwork isn't great, but then again this applies to most of their albums.

Undoubtedly my least favorite Strokes album. Neither "Comedown Machine" nor "Angles" was all that great, but they were both much more listenable than "First Impressions". There are just too many songs that flat out flop. I do love "You Only Live Once" though, and of course it's hard to expect any band to top the one two punch of "Is This It" and "Room on Fire."

I enjoy Room On Fire and this.Interpol on the other hand, I thought that only 2-3 songs were good from Antics and didn't even bother with their albums after that.
