Sorry, I spoke poorly on this: I don't even have anything against Johnny Cash, his music, or even his brand. I'm just sorta tired of him representing country music as a whole* to such a big part of the music nerd population when there's so much more to the genre. That's really all I was trying to say, my bad.
*And of course, you could argue that rockism can be blamed for much of this, as they think that the likes of outlaw and progressive country are "serious" and that modern pop-country is for rednecks and teenage girls. Though I guess that doesn't explain them ignoring alt-country

Call me rockist (because that's my 2nd favorite term behind Libtard...) but modern pop-country is for rednecks and teenage girls because that's who the industry markets it to and what the songs are written about.

Yeh I mean, not being a poptimist doesn't make you a rockist (God I hate having to use these words). Most pop-whatever is diluted lowest common denominator by design.
