I reached a burnout factor on this one and decided it was horribly overrated. I then set it aside and didn't listen to it for at least a decade. I would even switch the channel when a song from DSOTM came on the car radio.

Then I pulled it out and blocked out all distractions and listened to it again. It was like hearing it for the first time and I was even more blown away than upon my first first listening. I have not forsaken it since. Magnificent album.

I think this is probably the best album ever for me. It's very hard to rank the very best, but I think Dark Side has just something extra to put ahead of the next bunch of 15-20 albums that consitute my personal top tier of perfect albums.

This is certainly their best album, and the last one (besides a handful of tracks) before they disappeared up their own buttholes in my opinion.

When I first heard The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, I much preferred the latter. But the former just kept growing on me, and I now love it more. It's difficult to compete with "Time", "Money", "Us and Them", and "Brain Damage"/"Eclipse".

I love the Dark Side of The Moon, it was the first Pink Floyd album I heard as a young teen. The first song of theirs I knew was Another Brick in the Wall, which was a Christmas number one when I was 4, and the video used to scare me as I didn't like the teacher putting children through the mincer.

But I loved Dark Side. It really touched me. But then when I was lent a copy of Wish You Were Here a few years later it totally eclipsed Dark Side for me (excuse the pun). The quality of the music and lyrics and the fact that the sentiment of the album shows such depth of feeling in mourning the loss of an absent friend in Syd Barrett, made it my favourite. Wish You Were Here is, for me, a warmer album whereas Dark Side is more alienating, even though it totally rocks.

They are both good albums. And I haven't even started on The Wall, Animals or Piper!
